Open Day Western.

D1062 Western Courier from the Severn Valley Railway was one of the exhibits at the Bescot Open Day in 1992. Here the diesel-hydraulic stands in the holding sidings, with a Class 31 for company.

Great to see that. I wish now i'd secured some shots of when the Western's used to appear on the china clay trains... (not to mention the raft of Claytons that were held in the Down Local on their way to Cashmores scrapyard).

17's at Bescot? I never knew about that, what a photo that would be. Westerns on the clays seem so long ago now..

Sounds like you haven't seen this...

Clayton at Bescot.

Check out the rest of that gallery for some truly wonderful stuff around Bescot and the locality (Hymeks, Warships, Wezzies, 27s, Co-Bos etc).

PS, for the record the Baby Deltic D5908 was consisted from Bescot on 5th Jan 1970, presumably for Cashmores. The Claytons went in about August 1975, which is when I saw them at Bescot (around 5 or 6 of them).

Again, many thanks to "anonymous". An excellent site with some stunning photographs.

D5908 was, like so many other early diesels, cut at Cashmores of Great Bridge..

That is an ace shot. I was there at the 1992 Open Day but sadly didnt take many shots. I was only a nipper and a 24 film had to last me a couple of weeks due to cost etc! That Bescot site is awesome, will have to spend some time looking at it in more detail. Just one hellfire shot after another. Not enough hours in the day!!
