Rats 25205 & 25211 sit awaiting there fate in Bescot yard in the late eighties.

Was it late 80s or early 90s? Great shot. The whole line up wudda bin better, but that shot is fantastic.

Don't fret, they've all been re-cycled as Class 66s....
By the way, did you know the Grand Junction line was opened exactly 170 years ago this month... got any shots from 1837 by any chance ??

Also, this pair were finally removed to Glasgow Springburn from Bescot in 1995 (by road), and were THE LAST CLASS 25s to be scrapped !!
25205 (D7555) was due to be purchased by Pete Waterman at Crewe but the sale was cancelled and the loco returned to Bescot...

25235 ended up at Boness and I think that 259 was preserved as well.

A great, but very sad, shot. Why the hell did BR scrap the 25s, a very capable loco, and keep the 31s, which were all noise and no guts?
