Grid Runs Into BS North End.

Another view of 56006 from the Down Tower on 10 June 2002 as the loco draws the 6E08 Wolves ST-Scunthorpe into 5 road, These engines always sounded good, even when they were just idling, but under power they were awesome....Ruston-Paxman 16 cylinder overture...

Nicely caught. I thought they were a bit "47ish" in style when introduced, but wish there were more about now, esp. in BR blue !

I always preferred the Large Logo on 56s. But any livery will do now! Shame they are all just sitting about idle, all that power gone to waste. Great shot again.

If I remember right '006 was repainted in BR blue in 2002 for a open day, but I may be wrong!

Yes thats right. It was painted blue in 2000 for the Old Oak Common Open Day. It was withdrawn in 2001, but reinstated for a while in 2002. It was painted in Loadhaul livery before being repainted blue.
