A single 37 on 6S75

More 37s on the China Clay

37198 and 37680 cross the junction at Bescot that was being replaced in the next shot with the 6V70 Cliffe Vale to St Blazey china clay empties. Running three times a week this time, 6V70 was still booked for pairs of 37s.

37191 passes Bescot station

37191 passes Bescot station on 21.08.98 with the 6G67 Coleshill to Bescot tanks. The crossovers from Walsall to the Down Sidings were being replaced at the time so all freights had to go into the Up sidings and be shunted across eventually.

Blue and EWS 31s together at Bescot

BR blue 31427 and EWS 31466 teamed up to work a rake of engineers wagons through Bescot on 25.11.98. I waited an hour for them to come out of the Up sidings and it was well worth it. Two eras years apart in one shot.

A Bescot Regular.

Bescot's pet Class 37, 37116 Sister Dora is running onto the Down Local sidings in this old scan from 2002. This loco was often working off BS around this time.

A Virgin 47 at Bescot

47s were never my favourite class and often, such as this, I didnt record the number! Wish I had of now though! Here a 47 passes Bescot on a Virgin service, not even sure wether it is a service train or e.c.s.

37420 at Duddeston on 02.03.98

37420 The Scottish Hosteller heads a New Street to Holyhead service through Duddeston. These services ran out via Tipton and back via Bescot or vice versa from Wolverhampton to save running round at New Street.

37/4s To The Fore

A selection of 37/4s at Bescot North End. On 28.07.99 37429 is 30 minutes down with a New Street bound service from Holyhead, while on 02.06.99 37417 and 37411 are on the 6V70 Cliffe Vale to St Blazey china clay empties, meanwhile, the North Wales coast services were being operated by freight 37s because the 37/4s had been withdrawn after a piece of 37421s bogies fell apart at speed, and this pair of 4s were on freight! Then on 24.03.99 37412 Driver John Elliot arrives on 6M63 from Warrington.

Start up and Shut down

Type 3 diesel 37405 bursts into life at Bescot TMD, while GWR steam loco 6024 stands silent.
